Twice yearly, designated network schools get together to build community, gain new skills, and share experiences and new knowledge. Typically, these fall and spring events feature an ongoing focus on data-informed decision-making, culturally responsive teaching, and building learning community at home as well as planning for school improvement efforts. Schools are asked to bring leadership teams that include a building-level administrator, a teacher leader, and a cultural transmitter. The teams return to their schools to continue professional development efforts.
NETWORK LEARNING
A key innovation in the AEIN grant is the concept of "network learning." The goal is to bring together learners and teachers throughout the network to collaborate on solving the issues that face Alaskan educators. In essence, we believe that all of us know more than any of us and that key solutions to the problems we face can be found within our shared wisdom.
