Douglas Veltre's primary research interests are in the history and culture of the Aleut (Unangan) people, and he has conducted archaeological and ethno-historical research in the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands since 1971. He has served as President of the Alaska Anthropological Association and as a member of its Board of Directors. Professor Veltre, a past Chair of the Anthropology Department, has been at UAA since 1974.

	Arctic Anthropology is an international journal devoted to the study of Old and New World northern cultures and peoples. Archaeology, ethnology, physical anthropology, and related disciplines are represented, with emphasis on: studies of specific cultures of the arctic.  This issue features Dr. Douglas Veltre, Dr. David Yesner, and Dr. William Workman from UAA's Anthropology Department.
