The Career and Technical Education department is committed to providing quality professional development opportunities for in-service teachers and faculty, counselors, and administrators to enhance their skills.

Fall 2008 course offerings

History & Philosophy of Career and Technical Education -- Tuesday, 5:30-8:45 p.m.
Distance delivered credit courses studying the educational leaders, legislation, and foundations of career and technical education which influence secondary and postsecondary CTE programs.  Offered at undergraduate or graduate level.

Career and Technical Education Methods I -- Wednesday, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Distance delivered three credit course studying career and technical education curriculum design and assessment.  Learn new teaching strategies and evaluate content and materials.

Developing Programs of Study -- Asynchronous course on Blackboard
Web-based, one credit course that will help students develop an understanding of programs of study, analyze content standards to determine how they fit in a program of study, and work through the phases in developing a program of study for one career cluster or pathway.  Course offered at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Advanced Professional Experiences -- Days and times can be arranged to meet your needs
Variable credit course providing academic rigor to internships, externships, and other structured professional development activities in CTE.

      • If new to UAA or haven't attended classes within the last 12 months, click on the Apply for Admission link.
    • Click on Secured Area and login using your UA student ID number and pin
      • If ID number unknown, search by social security number
      • If pin unknown, call Enrollment Services 786-1480 and ask for a reset
    • Register for classes using the 'register/add/drop classes' page, and the unique CRN number
